Introduction to Yamunotri Dham

According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Yamuna is the Sun God’s daughter and Yama’s sister. It is believed that take a bath in the Yamuna’s waters protects believers from death, as Yama promised his sister all those who worship her will be spared agony.
Another tale indicates that Sage Asit Muni, famous rishi, lived here and bathed in both the Ganga and the Yamuna. When he was old and unable to travel to Gangotri, the Ganges emerged near his ashram and blessed him with its holy waters.
The temple was originally established in the eighteenth century by Maharani Guleria of Jaipur after an earlier shrine was destroyed by disasters of nature.

The Trek to Yamunotri Dham

📅 Best Time to Visit: ✅ The temple is open from May to October (closed while on winter because of to severe snowfall). ✅ Avoid the monsoon season (July-August) due to landslides.
