The Hamta Pass is situated at an altitude of about 14,000 feet above sea level, surrounded by huge snow-capped mountains.

On this entire Hmata Pass Trek, apart from beautiful deodar trees, you will see waterfalls, glaciers hanging from snow, lakes, pinewoods, and small soft meadows, which make this entire trek even more thrilling and beautiful.

The Hamta Pass Trek starts from the beautiful city of Manali in Himachal, which is also a world-famous tourist destination, where thousands of tourists from all over the country come every year.

This whole city is covered with Deodar trees, which adds to the beauty of this city. In the same season, there is snowfall here which makes the tourists even more thrilled.

The Hamta Pass is situated between the Chandra Valley and the Kullu Valley of Lahaul. It takes about 5 days to reach and leave the Hamta Pass Trek from here.

This trek is named after a small village Hamta which falls in the middle of this Trek. The Hamta Pass is mostly used by the shepherds living in the Himalayan region

During summer, when the land in and around Lahaul becomes barren, the shepherds take their goats to the grasslands here to graze in these grasslands.

This Hamta Pass Trek starts from Manali and ends at Chataru near Chandratal. You have to go along the Hamta Pass where in the middle you can see the beautiful weather and green natural shade changing every moment, which gives tourists a look. Takes you to a different world.

For those who like adventure sports, this trek is no less than a surprise. Here the icy winds blow every moment, seeing the mist of white clouds between the standing pine trees around and it seems as if you are going on the way towards heaven

Seeing all this, you will not even believe that you are going to travel on any Trek. This experience will never be forgotten in your life.

On this Hamta Pass Trek, like other Trek, you do not get the necessary things like food, drink, T-House, and mobile connection anywhere in the middle.

Mobile networks can also be available to you only till Prini. After that, you are complete with nature and in nature’s lap. But the way to go here is good, due to which you can easily complete the Hmata Pass Trek.

This entire Hamta Pass Trek is about 26 km, on it takes about  5 days to reach and leave.

  • The best season to visit the Hamta Pass trek is from April to October, after which there is a risk of slipping on the trek due to the rainy season.

From April to October, the weather here is mostly clear, due to which you can enjoy the nature here.

To go on this Trek, you have to go along the Chandra River, in the middle of which you get a chance to see small meadows, waterfalls, and snow-capped mountains of the beautiful Dhauladhar.

Day 1: Manali To Chika

The journey begins in Manali, where you will be picked up and driven to Jobra in a car. Manali, at 6,700 feet above sea level, is a wonderful site to acclimate before beginning the trip. Before arriving at Jobra, the route takes you around 40 hairpin bends and takes about 2 hours. Throughout the journey, you will be able to appreciate the grandeur of the Kullu Valley. Jobra serves as the starting point for your journey to Hampta Pass. It is located at a height of 9,800 feet, with the trek to Chika taking you to a height of 10,100 feet.
Today’s hike will take you through a mixed woodland of pine and green maple along the banks of Rani NallahThe journey begins at the Allain Guhugal Hydel Project junction and continues through a forest of Pine trees and other conifers such as Maple, Oak, Deodar, and Toss after crossing the main road. The hill you’ll be climbing is not particularly steep and is relatively simple to ascend. Take time to admire the beauty of the surroundings before entering a lush field covered with little boulders all around. You’ll reach the bend that overlooks the meadow after 20 minutes on the trail.

Day 2: Chika to Balu Ka Ghera

While the region is not visible from the Chika campsie, it can be assumed that it is on the right-hand side based on the trail’s route. The trail will take you past boulders and rugged terrain, and the grade of the walk today is relatively easy, so you should be able to do it without difficulty. The entire right side of the river is bordered with beautiful miniature Rhododendron trees. The lower and central regions will be covered by these trees, while the upper region will be covered by a cluster of silver birch trees. Wait a moment once you’ve reached the end of the silver birch trees and gaze back to admire the complete range of Dhauladhar snow-capped peaks in front of you. The vista is breathtaking. At a distance, you’ll see a clear stream cascade to the left. This is the most convenient location for filling your bottles.

Day 3: Balu Ka Ghera To Shea Goru Panoramic Mountain Views

The trek can be divided into two parts: a steady ascent to Hampta Pass on a relatively high hill, followed by a dramatic drop to Shea Goru. On this day, the highest altitude will be reached at Hampta Pass (14, 000 ft). The day begins with a trip to the mountains you saw the day before near Balu Ka Ghera. The trail runs alongside the river. The vista is breathtaking, and the riverbanks are adorned with tiny yellow and orange flowers.
The riverfront pathways will lead you to the base, where you will begin the actual ascent to the Hampta pass. The track eventually fades off, so be careful not to get lost. When you trek with us, our trek leaders will bring you down the correct path, so you won’t get lost. It will take an hour to get to this location. After another hour of walking, you’ll arrive at the first plateau. During the summer, the area is entirely covered in fresh snow. Aside from that, it’s spots of snow all over the place. The summit of Deo Tibba will be directly in front of you.

Day 4 : Shea Goru To Chatru

You will walk from Shea Goru to Chatru on foot, which will take approximately 5 hours. Shea Goru is 12,900 feet above sea level, while Chatru is 11,000 feet. It’s a pleasant descent from Shea Goru. The trail follows the bank of the river valley between mountain ranges once more. Be cautious because certain areas can be a little slick.
Chatru may be found from a long distance. In the desolate highlands, there is no flora to be seen. The tough phase is still to come. You must exercise caution because the trail may occasionally lead you to the brink of mountains and ridges. There are also some slick sections on the path. To move further, you’ll need to be sure-footed and cautious. Despite this, the journey is not as onerous as it appears. The sliding will undoubtedly be enjoyable for you. It will take you another two hours to go down the mountains. You’ll observe the Chandra River running below you, as well as a road that runs alongside it. After that, there are more than two glaciers to cross. Chatru, the next camping zone, is located on the other side of the Glacier.

Day 5: Chatru To Manali

It’s time to bid farewell. The fifth day will be spent riding back to Manali from the Chatru campground. You will arrive in Manali in the evening after a 7-hour ride filled with gentle reminisces of the hills.

Fitness For Trekking

Tips to get fit for Trekking

Experiencing trek is almost everyone’s passion or dream. But before starting or planning for a hike, you must be aware of the during and post-trek pain of your body. It is essential to be strong enough to enjoy your whole trek without any disruption of body ache. One book or decide several months before going on a hike, so you have a significant amount of time exercising your body and training it to become flexible for the trek.

Following are some advantages of training yourself before trek:

  • It fosters aerobic fitness.
  • It improves blood circulation and breathing functions as well.
  • It makes the heart strong, preventing it from any problem.
  • It helps in toning legs.
  • Muscles get build-up which is very beneficial.

Therefore, one must do practice to gain all these benefits. It is not only for the trek but for lifetime fitness also.
Let’s have a look at some factors which must be kept in mind to practice before trek:

Importance of Stretching

It helps the body become flexible and allows you to move your body in any direction you want quickly. It helps make the joints such as shoulders, elbows, hips and knees stronger to prevent any mishappening. It provides much relaxation to your body and relieves the pain. And if you are going on a trek, it is essential to practice stretching way before your hike. It will help you in moving to the higher altitudes region more efficiently.

Sleep like baby

It is always said that one must sleep like a baby. It means sleep without any worries. This makes you have an adequate amount of sleep which is a significant factor in daily life. So, practice it daily and also before your trek. Try to make yourself comfortable to sleep at higher altitudes.

Good Shoes-Good Trek

It is so evident that one has to walk and only walk while Trekking, so it is far more essential to have a good pair of trekking/hiking shoes. Practice walking by wearing your boots before the trek to make yourself used to them. You may opt for an option to keep an extra pair in your bag while trek to help yourself in the opposite condition.

Altitude is a risk. Before you begin the trek, you should be aware of the effects of the high altitude on your body. Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) symptoms include a moderate headache, nausea, and overall discomfort.

Response: If you have any of these symptoms, notify the trek leader immediately and follow his advice. To deal with the scenario, each campsite contains a stretcher, a fully prepared first aid kit, and oxygen cylinders.

Weather Risk: No one can guarantee snow, rain, or sunlight, even if we keep a constant eye on the weather. Please keep in mind that your safety is our primary priority, and if the weather isn’t cooperating, we won’t leave the campsite.

Response: The choice to go or wait for better weather will be made solely by the Trek Leaders and Guides.

Risk: Injury is a possibility. While trekking across difficult terrain, minor injuries such as calf sprains, bruising, and other minor ailments are prevalent. Serious injuries, such as fractures or significant cuts, are quite uncommon.

Response: All of our Trek Leaders are trained in wilderness first aid. They’ve been taught to deal with emergencies and have well-stocked first-aid equipment to deal with minor injuries. In the event of major injuries, the patient is carried to the nearest roadhead on a stretcher and taken to the nearest medical facility.

DO’S AND DON’TS ON A TREK
1. Alcohols or any other intoxicating products ‘’STRICTLY PROHIBITED’’
during the trek.
2. Always pay heed to the trek guides or instructors.

5. Avoid using earphones as that might hinder your hearing.
6. Do not participate in or encourage littering of the places in any form.
7. While visiting the local villages and tourist sites, obey the local guidelines
and instructions.
8. Do not harm or interrupt the local sentiments of the places.

the itinerary. The leader will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan,
but please be prepared to be flexible if required.

FAQs

Jobra is the last place where the network is available. It also does not have a stable connection so it’s better to leave all your worries and enjoy this beautiful trek.

You must take a guide with you unless you are a professional & seasoned trekker in the Himalayas. It is especially easy to get lost in the woods in the Himalayas and not know left from right! So, it is better to take a local villager or a guide who will not only show you the path but also save you in the bad weather conditions.

There is not electricity throughout the trek. The only place you’ll find a plug to charge your phone or camera batteries will be Manali before and after the trek.

Therefore use your electronic equipment wisely. Fully charge your batteries before leaving your hotel and use your electronic equipment minimally.

Weather Forecast

The weather during April, May and June is mostly cool and pleasant but gets chilly and cold during winters.
